Course Description:

Biochemistry is the study of chemical processes in living organisms. The interface between chemical and life science is a leading frontier for scientific discovery in modern chemistry. The course of biochemistry is a compulsory course for the undergraduate of chemistry. The course will mainly examine the following subjects: (i) protein chemistry; (ii) enzyme chemistry; (iii) vitamin and cozymase; (iv) bioenergetics and biological oxidation; (v) nucleotide and nucleic acid; (vi) DNA replication and transcription and protein translation; (vii) glucose and lipids metabolism. At the same time, some of the most cutting-edge life science progress in academic research will be selectively introduced to students in order to inspire their interests for life science-related topic or always have biological sense in future studies and research.
