Course Description:

It is the first course of experiment for the freshman. It provides the students more opportunities of practical experiences and improves their skills in the chemistry lab. The students receive the training of basic technology and elementary operation for synthesis and characterization of inorganic compounds.

At the end of this class the students should be familiar with synthetic techniques and characterization methods used in inorganic chemistry, and also improve his laboratory record-keeping skills.

The students will perform standard laboratory procedures like weighing, quantitative liquid transfer, reflux procedures, gravity and suction filtration, recrystallization, and the determination of melting point and/or decomposition temperature of inorganic materials.
